IN THE STILLNESS

August 2, 2020

Psalm 23, often called The Divine Shepherd Psalm, is a truly beloved scripture for many of us. We pray it in times of trouble and grief when we long for comfort and peace. We pray it in times of want and need, in times of danger and confusion; those times when we long for the care of Someone Who will care for us and lead us to safety. These qualities brought out in the psalm are some of the less recognized, but at the same time more significant, benchmarks of a strong, compassionate leader.

Where in your life have you experienced a godly human leader who reflected some of God’s attributes as found in this psalm/prayer? When have you been such a leader? The world is in need of such leaders in every aspect of life – choose your leaders wisely, live wisely as a leader yourself!

Let us pray:

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside still waters; He restores my soul.

He leads me in right paths for His name’s sake.

Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and your staff—they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord my whole life long. AMEN.
